SHRINK OR GROW YOUR BRAIN? YOUR CHOICE!

We do it waking, sleeping, alone, or in a crowd. It’s rarely blank, and the content’s quality determines our brains’ condition. Chronic thoughts of fear, worry, anxiety, hopelessness, unforgiveness, and resentment can shrink the brain’s well-being. These chronic feelings often represent damaged relationships. A brain overloaded with the wrong stuff withers.

I can hear the arguments. “How can I not worry about all that’s happening in the world, my home, or my health?” “The problem is shrinking finances, not my brain!” “You have no idea how I’ve been hurt and offended!” You’re right, I don’t know all the details, but I’ve burdened the circuits of my brain with negativity causing my mind and life torment.

There are effective practices I’ve employed enhancing my brain’s function and creativity. Reading God’s promises and solutions for broken relationships, health, finances, and all the other peace-consuming monsters, heals our brains. As the brain heals, the chemical messengers released often bring healing to the physical body. Multiple studies over the decades show this phenomenon to be true.

Why not decide to be the positive change for your health and relationships? The practical application? Ask God to change your thoughts. Then do your part by opening a modern translation of His words. Read, pray, and meditate on his truths, believing them for yourself. Courageously obey His wise leading. Begin to experience greater peace in your life and relationships. Do this intentionally for at least 30 days to retrain your thoughts. Then you will have encouragement to share with others.

Let us go right into the presence of God, with true hearts fully trusting him. For our evil consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean …let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds…encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near. (NLT: Hebrews 10: 22 – 25)
