ARMOR AND PROTECTION

I had the wondrous privilege of watching my grand-daughter’s birth. As her lungs took first breaths and eyes opened to bright light, all present heard her welcome, healthy cry. Minutes later that cry was replaced with peace as she was cradled in her mother’s loving arms.

This child brought nothing with her except her precious and absolutely helpless life. Her parents became her armor and protection. They began the wise process of teaching their child principles and practices of protection in a world filled with hazardous potholes of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual threats.

Through their instruction, this adult child will become fairly independent and autonomous but will still depend on others for protective wisdom concerning hazards she can’t know everything about. No one has perfect multiple, perception abilities.

But wait, yes, there is one who knows and perceives all present and future dangers and what to do about them. His wisdom and promises will be this child’s armor and protection if she chooses to own them for herself.

How do I know? Because I’ve met this One and heard His voice in my spirit. I’ve found His promises and direction protect me as I spend time resting with Him and His Words. I’ve observed this phenomenon through my years of hospice nursing.

Those knowing His armor and protection, tend to leave this world with comfortable and restful peace knowing they’re about to meet the One who brought them peace.  Those who don’t, tend to be anxiously uncomfortable due to fear. Often, I would comfort these individuals with, “God loves you. He waits for you with open arms. With your spirit, walk toward His light and love.”

I’m praying for you the reader to know Him, His armor and protection. I love my adult independence but treasure my protective dependence on Him.

…he is your God, and you can trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from the fatal plague. He will shield you with his wings. He will shelter you with his feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. (NLT: Psalms 91: 2 – 5)
