LIFE GIVING WORDS FOR GOD’S CHILDREN

Caleb has lived with a life-threatening diagnosis for years but continues to work full-time despite painful symptoms. After doing much research, he chose alternative medical treatment. Diagnostic procedures measured the flow of energy through his body to determine and treat the underlying issues.

Treatments have included computerized nutritional and supplemental recommendations specific for Caleb and his condition. Recently, Caleb shared with me his thoughts, “There are those who criticize me for not following the recommendations of the medical community.

I’ve learned not to talk about my illness as if it belongs to me because it doesn’t. I am God’s son and he doesn’t cause his children to be ill. He’s shown me a positive attitude and prayer are what’s most important. So, with hope, every day I ask him for healing.”

Thoughtfully I replied, “You are wise to know illness isn’t from God and to pray for healing. But, could you consider starting each day thanking God for your healing?”  Humbly Caleb countered, “I couldn’t tell God what to do!”

Smiling, I suggested, “Caleb, you know God loves you as a son. Most fathers love to hear their sons speak the words they taught them. God’s word is filled with promises about Father God wanting to heal. Could I suggest you explore the Bible and find some promises for yourself and begin to declare them daily?”

Caleb’s eyes brightened with his response, “Yes! I will do that. And this will help my children better understand who God is and what he is doing for me.”

Jesus sent the twelve disciples out with these instructions…Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received! (NLT: Matthew 10: 5,7 – 8)

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results. (NLT: James 5: 16)

Don’t lose sight of my words. Let them penetrate deep within your heart, for they bring life and radiant health to anyone who discovers their meaning. (NLT: Proverbs 4: 21 – 22)
