THE LOVE THIEVES

It’s a cold, damp, gray, pull the blanket over my head Tennessee morning. My body’s tired from too many late holiday nights and travel. I recognize the negative thoughts circling my brain. I ask myself, “Why?”
“Oh, I get it. My spirit’s kind of self-focused instead of tuning into Father’s effervescent love for me. Father, restore my strength, turn my thoughts to your truth and give my day your purpose.”
The prayer reminded me who I am, Father God’s much-loved daughter. Why wouldn’t he answer with loyal help? The next step, move forward believing love and energy will be restored to my day.
The hot shower was reviving. My thoughts shifted to my husband and his friend working hard in the cold outdoors. Cooking delicious warm food for them warmed my heart.
After lunch, curiosity caused me to dress in work clothes and see what the men were up to. In no time, I was helping reclaim 12 foot steel gates from the briars and trees that encased them.
Connecting with Father God’s love and telling him my needs, corrected the downward spiral my spirit was trying to take. The hard labor improved my circulation and restored my energy. Helping the guys gave me a sense of accomplishment and more positive thoughts about the world.
Who were the thieves trying to steal my love? My flesh wanted to take the easy way out by doing nothing. The cares of the world attempted to steal faith, hope and love from my thought life. The hate filled devil himself is the instigator of all love thieveries.

God’s motivating, healing love is available to all who seek to walk with him. Peaceful thoughts bring healing to stressed physical bodies. Who are you calling to for help, the love thieves or Father God? It’s a choice. Got thoughts? Leave a comment.

See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for he allows us to be called his children, and we really are! But the people who belong to this world don’t know God, so they don’t understand that we are his children. (NLT:1 John 3: 1)

Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love the world, you show that you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only the lust for physical pleasure, the lust for everything we see, and pride in our possessions. These are not from the Father. They are from this evil world.(NLT: 1 John 2: 15 – 17)
