My parents would call me on my birthday. The well blended harmony of Dad’s tenor and Mom’s soprano voice communicated their love as they sang Happy Birthday to Bonnie.
The call was expected. But the reality of it brought smiles and joy to both giver and receiver. The memory of these birthday calls still gives me a sense of well-being and peace. My physical body nourished with the good food of joyful thoughts.
As I reflect on these memories, I’m thinking about a birthday call I’m going to make. His birthday was 2,000 years ago. But the perfection of His DNA made his birthday different than all others. Even though most of the world missed the party, the angels announced his birth with joy, hope and song.
Jesus greets my every call with perfect welcoming love. As I sit with him, he shares perfect direction and reassures me of his forgiveness. He reminds me of the justice he’s working in all areas of my life.
I don’t always acknowledge him when he taps on my busy shoulders. I should because his calls bring greater physical, mental and spiritual health. But I’m taking time now to sing Happy Birthday Jesus and express my thanks.
The call is meant for everyone. There’s no prejudice. Divine relational interaction with Jesus chases away loneliness, rejection and regret. Ask for his perfect joy, peace and love. It’s free to all who bravely make the call and intentionally seek partnership and surrender with him.
The Savior–yes, the Messiah, the Lord–has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David!… Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others–the armies of heaven–praising God: “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors. “(NLT: Luke 2: 11, 13, 14)
