Win The Battle

The ambulance rushes the two-year-old special needs child to the ER with high fever, vomiting, and pain. The ER staff tries over 10 times but can’t start the IV necessary to complete diagnostic scans.

The physician prescribes a random antibiotic with hopes it will combat infection if there is an infection.

The other nurse and I have been with this child for the past year, and we know her life is fragile. We know the setbacks she’s suffered due to deadly complications. On the phone, we share the “what if’s” of our fears.

Feeling helpless, we mention the advantages of prayer. Fiery hope begins to rise in our spirits. We know the Person responsible for overcoming past complications in this child’s life.

His motives are selfless, and His loving interventions are always what’s needed and not necessarily what’s wanted. Personally, we are learning trials and traumas seen through the eyes of a loving God can work for our good and all those involved.

Anxious worry can eventually cause chronic illness in the worrier. Worried and fretful prayer doesn’t indicate much faith in the One I pray to. I’m learning faith in Him and His answers brings victory and peace.

We agree to pray, sing and dance in communication and gratefulness to our Father God, who knows best. Through our difficulties, this nurse and I are learning to trust his answers. We ask for peace and a healthy outcome for this child. We thank him for his answers ahead of time.

The child goes home the next afternoon free of fever, vomiting, and pain. Without a diagnosis, questions remain concerning her health in the days ahead. But we continue to communicate with Father God, knowing he’s the source of all healthy peace. His motives and answers are always what’s best for his children both young and old.

May God bless you with his special favor and wonderful peace as you come to know Jesus, our God and Lord, better and better. (NLT: 2 Peter 1: 2 – 3)

For every child of God defeats this evil world by trusting Christ to give the victory. And the ones who win this battle against the world are the ones who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. (NLT: 1 John 5: 4 – 5)
