LIBERATING SURRENDER

Infected with Covid-19, nursing her newborn and battling accusing voices in her head, Lilly tearfully sank to her knees. “God, I can’t do this anymore,” she cried.

As a child, Lilly knew the goodness and forgiveness of God. She spent her adult life flirting with sexual promiscuity, the occult, and disrespect of caring authority figures. Somewhere amid this lifestyle, the accusing voices began speaking to her mind, “God won’t have you. You’re soiled and beyond redemption.”

There were times Lilly begged God to take the voices away. They clamored for attention as she continued her rebellious lifestyle.

God answered her cry. She heard His kind, accepting voice in her head, “This is what I’ve been waiting for. Total, humble, surrender, dependent on Me. Samson rebelled with pride and allowed his hair to be cut. He thought he could remain strong without trusting My ways.”

Immediately Lilly was aware her mind was peaceful and free of oppression. Fearing their tormenting return, she wept, “How do I keep them from visiting me?” God replied gently, “Stay humble, wanting, and needing Me. Don’t cut Me off like Samson did when he lived a life without Me.”

These past weeks, Lilly enjoys a peaceful mind, free of oppressive voices, when she focuses on God’s loving promise, “Stay humble, wanting and needing Me”. When worldly temptations enter her mind, she must immediately give them to God. When she doesn’t, the voices return. Her surrender to God’s protection is liberating her thought life.

Samson’s prideful spirit demanded freedom to rebel. Humbly broken, he called out to God. Thankfully, Lilly did the same and experiences a beneficial peace. Her wise choice releases her from the lies and manipulation of tormenting voices.

Lilly’s heart is learning protection and strength through Godly trust. I’m praying for her to stay in this surrendered and liberating place. Will you pray for her also?

Then he said, “I assure you, unless you turn from your sins and become as little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. Therefore, anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. (NLT: Matthew 18: 3 – 4)

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. (NLT: Matthew 11: 28 – 29)
