THE PLEASURE OF MUSCLES RESTED

Do you lay down to sleep and find the muscles of your head, neck and shoulders are kind of drawn up and tense? You’re ready to rest, but there’s a tension related to duties needing to be accomplished. Or maybe, you wake up and find these same areas stiff.

I’ve experienced it all. Growing tired of tired muscles, I searched for the remedy to my muscular fatigue.  The answer was simple.

Much information passes through my head and heart as I experience each day through my 5 senses. Hearing, seeing, feeling, touching and tasting stuff that depletes life instead of encourages life causes me a certain amount of anxiety.

I was never called to assume authority over all the wrongs I experience and observe daily. There’s only one and his name is Jesus Christ. Now, I’m learning Jesus desires to partner with me, bringing his authority into some of those life depleting problems.

As I speak or act with the direction and authority of Jesus, I can then let go of the outcome. When I take on his assignments in his strength, I find them easier to bear. With lessened anxiety, my mind, heart and muscles are more ready to simply sink into the mattress and rest.

To know his direction, I must come to him with a teachable spirit, trusting his all-knowing wisdom and love for me. Engaging with Jesus in this simple, life-giving exchange; allows me the pleasure of true refreshment, relaxation and muscles simply rested.

“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.” (Matt11:28-30 The Passion Translation)
