IS GOD REAL?

“God’s not real,” said my 4-year-old granddaughter. “Why do you say that?” I asked. “Because I can’t see him,” she replied emphatically.  I sensed this wasn’t the whole story and questioned, “Who told you that?” She responded with the name of a school friend.

We are easily influenced if we don’t know the truth.  In my quiet time, I ask God, “How do I respond to that? I know you’re real because of the divine moments I’ve experienced in our partnership.  But how do you explain that to a 4 year-old?”

He responded, “Do you see the wind?” Thoughtfully I replied, “No, but I can feel it and have certainly observed its powerful destruction in these Florida Keys.” He continued on in my thoughts, “Do you see me in the majesty of creation all around? Does a beautiful orchid make you smile?

Do you hear my power in the sound of thunder? Do you see my tender love in the face of a newborn child? Have you counted the stars of the ever-expanding universe? No one is able, except me. As you point out the grandeur of created life all around, my spirit will teach your granddaughter. No worries!”

I felt a little like chastened Job but was reassured by God’s simple suggestion. Raising awareness of Truth does help to combat misinformation.

Advanced imaging techniques now reveal that the rhythmic motion of human cell parts serve vital purposes that implicate intelligent design.   Gia Voeltz, a University of Colorado cell biologist showed videos of this cellular motion to colleagues. Upon viewing they were awed by the integrated beauty of the motion.

“This implies that all the required organelles … must have originated at the same time,” says Brian Thomas, an Institute for Creation Research biochemist.

It seems my magnificently engineered living cells are a love gift from the womb of heaven created to provide vital, thriving health. As I follow God’s nuggets of wisdom through the forests of information, I’m continually confirmed in my belief, “God is real!”

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  (NLT: Genesis 1: 1)

The heavens tell of the glory of God. The skies display his marvelous craftsmanship. (NLT: Psalms 19: 1 – 2)

For we are God’s masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.  (NLT: Ephesians 2: 10 – 11)
