I hear your laughing thoughts, “She’s old and delusional.” No really! Just like “FOMO”, or fear of missing out has become a popular phrase, I think “LU-E” could take care of those fears. What’s “LU-E”? It’s looking up expectantly!

Sort of expectantly I was looking up, as Joel and I painted porch railings on our TN home, knowing we were leaving the next day. We were out of time to finish the project. Not good, when you’ve just put the house up for sale. “Do you notice we could use some help?” was my silent prayer. Well, sure enough, that help showed up the next morning, ready for employment.

On the way home, the GPS showed several accidents causing a significant back up of traffic in downtown Atlanta during rush hour. Rush hour and accidents are not a good time to be driving through any big city. Another silent expectant prayer, “How are you going to help us here? I know you’re bigger than rush hour and accidents.” We speedily sailed through downtown in the HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lane. Grinning we looked at each other and said, “We are better together.”

“LU-E” can be practiced any time, any place by anybody. It was Good Friday and his friends weren’t applying “LU-E”. Their dear friend, the deliverance hope of their nation was murdered. Three days of fearful thoughts, doubts and unbelief consumed them. Until, Jesus showed himself alive bodily, come back from the grave, and seen in the flesh by many! Incredulous joy mixed with confusion washed over his friends. They experienced a huge lesson in practicing “LU-E”.

As I reflect on God’s promises fulfilled in history and in my own life, I know he is real and working on my behalf as I practice “LU-E” with less fear and more faith in his power to overcome difficulties because of his loving-kindness.

Now, please understand this “LU-E” business isn’t like making a wish or calling the genie out of the bottle. This is having a relationship with the wise, powerful Creator and God of the universe who knows the perfect time and perfect answer. I have sometimes waited months and years for his perfect brilliant solutions for the cares of my life. As I remember to practice “LU-E” more consistently, I’m learning His solutions are worth the wait.

What are some of the fears, doubts or worries that are troubling your thoughts? Do you realize these negative thoughts cause a release of chemical messengers in your body that can damage cells and organs?

Are you aware medical science has proven prayer and the spiritual practice of faith in God can cause your body to release healing chemical messengers to cells and organs? Will you join me in surrendering those cares to God? Will you join me in practicing “LU-E”?

“ I lay at your feet all my concerns and worries. I desire to leave them there. Help me Lord, to look up without fear, and expectantly wait on your brilliant answer. I believe you are hearing and lovingly saving me in every situation. Thank you for what you are doing in me and for me.”

As for me, I look to the LORD for his help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. (NLT: Micah 7: 7)
