Same Sex Marriage in Florida Keys

• Article 4 / Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution guarantees each state the right of Republican form of government where citizens are allowed to conduct affairs for their own benefit rather than the benefit of federal governance • In 2008, a citizen initiated petition produced the Florida Defense of Marriage Act that was passed as Florida law by 62-38 margin. It reads,” in as much as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.” • The U.S. Supreme Court didn’t strike down section 2 of DOMA that declares all states and territories have the right to deny recognition of marriages of same sex couples that originated in states where they are legally recognized. No state is obligated to legalize same sex marriage. • God clearly states his plan for human sexuality in Matthew 19:4-6, “God made them male and female. This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.” Genesis 1:27-28 states, “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it.” • Heterosexual gender is a divine creation, heterosexual marriage is a divine institution, heterosexual union can produce divine offspring, and heterosexual fidelity is the divine intention. Other sexual liaisons are a violation of God’s instruction to his lovingly created people. • Garcia wrote in his decision. “Whether it is … when Nazi supremacists won the right to march in Skokie, Illinois, a predominantly Jewish neighborhood; or when a black woman wanted to marry a white man in Virginia; or when black children wanted to go to an all-white school, the Constitution guarantees and protects ALL of its citizens from government interference with those rights.” • Judge Garcia used his judicial right to over-rule the expressed rights of the majority of Floridians to justify immoral behavior. It is my opinion that the examples he uses to justify these citizen rights have nothing to do with immorality. Many Floridians disagree with my stand. I disagree with gay bashing. Shouldn’t all people be treated with utmost respect? Couldn’t we come together as caring individuals, dialogue about differences, rather than demonize one another? I admit heterosexual marriages are failing too often. Do we lack respect for God and his instruction to love one another with fidelity? I’ve read many blogs cheering Judge Garcia’s decision. Where are those voices that will stand for God’s truth without animosity toward those we disagree with?
