War and Peace

Sitting by the horse pasture brought some unwanted self conflict. The day was beautiful and the horses were grazing in a relaxed fashion. Birds were chirping and breezes lightly blowing as I ate my lunch and enjoyed the view. My thoughts went to the 3D/4D ultrasound of my soon to be born grand baby. Her perfect rose-bud mouth, full head of dark hair and healthy looking cheeks. Beautiful and miraculous. I felt so thankful for all and very at peace. Then my thoughts went to those places of war – the U.S. border, Ukraine, Syria, Gaza, Israel, Iraq. I’m sure many more places could be added as we become more globally aware of our world neighbors. So much suffering, displacement and terror for those oppressed and persecuted. Then the thought came; I’m at peace and able to pray for God’s deliverance and peace for these people. I can be a good neighbor to them and ask the Almighty to expose and eliminate the evil and bring an end to the suffering for many. Same Sex Marriage in Florida Keys

• Article 4 / Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution guarantees each state the right of Republican form of government where citizens are allowed to conduct affairs for their own benefit rather than the benefit of federal governance • In 2008, a citizen initiated petition produced the Florida Defense of Marriage Act that was passed as Florida law by 62-38 margin. It reads,” in as much as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.” • The U.S. Supreme Court didn’t strike down section 2 of DOMA that declares all states and territories have the right to deny recognition of marriages of same sex couples that originated in states where they are legally recognized.
